Learn German for travel, business, university studies in Germany, Austria or Switzerland, or simply for personal enrichment. Classes begin four times a year and we need four students to start a class.
These classes are not part of our CEA-accredited program for F-1 students.
These are the tentative classes for the coming sessions. See if there is a running class you can join, or join the next one.
Our teachers use a variety of methods and approaches to support every kind of learner: visual, auditory, kinesthetic, or something in between. There is a place for you in our classrooms.
Our levels follow the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR), so you always know where you stand. In two 10-week sessions you complete one level: Level 1A in the first session and Level 1B in the next finish Level 1. At the end of each session, with your teacher’s approval, you advance to the next level.

For English speakers, the U.S. Foreign Service Institute estimates about 750–900 hours of study to reach fluency, or roughly 30–36 weeks of intensive study. With consistent daily practice and immersive classes, many students reach conversational fluency within 6–12 months. Prior language experience, study intensity and opportunities for immersion can speed up your progress.
No. German is one of the easier languages for English speakers because both share Germanic roots, so thousands of words are similar, like “Wasser” (water), “Haus” (house) and “Buch” (book). Grammatical gender and four noun cases are challenges, but consistent pronunciation and logical sentence structure make German predictable. The FSI ranks it as a Category II language, needing far fewer study hours than Mandarin, Arabic or Japanese.
