TLC has a relationship with Shorelight, which partners with about 100 top universities in the United States. Our students can be admitted to many of them without a TOEFL or IELTS score, and we can help you apply, for free.
TLC is staffed with designated school officials who act as immigration advisors for international students. We also help you adjust to life in America or take the next step toward university, and can share contact information for advisors at those schools.
TLC does not require health insurance while you study, but strongly recommends it. Ask the office for a list of providers, or see isoa.org. TLC is not financially responsible if you get sick or need treatment, and if you choose not to buy insurance you will sign a waiver.
Each quarter you can join 3 school-organized activities. We volunteer somewhere in the community each quarter, hold one event outside the school with activities and competitions, and finish with an international brunch where students share a dish from their country. Teachers also add small trips to local restaurants, museums, libraries and stores for real-world practice.
TLC doesn’t have on-campus housing, so all students live off-site. We can share information on local apartment complexes with short-term leases.
Homestay. Living with an American family is a great way to start your life in the USA and improve your English. International students can book a homestay with Student Room Stay, which carefully screens and trains its host families and can also help you find an apartment. Room, board and local transportation cost $217–$282 a week, depending on the package.
